Author Details

JOHN J. WILD holds a distinguished professorship in accounting at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He previously held positions at Michigan State University and the University of Manchester in England. His academic credentials include a BBA, MS, and PhD from the University of Wisconsin.

John instructs accounting courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has received various accolades for teaching, including the Mabel W. Chipman Excellence-in-Teaching Award, departmental Excellence-in-Teaching Award, and the Teaching Excellence Award from business graduates at the University of Wisconsin on two occasions. He has also been honored with the Beta Alpha Psi and Roland F. Salmonson Excellence-in-Teaching Award from Michigan State University. John has garnered multiple research recognitions, is a former KPMG Peat Marwick National Fellow, and has received fellowships from the American Accounting Association and the Ernst and Young Foundation.

John is an active member of the American Accounting Association and its subsections. He has served on numerous committees within these organizations including the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award, Wildman Award, National Program Advisory, Publications, and Research Committees. John is the author of Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and College Accounting, all of which are published by McGraw-Hill Education.

John’s research work on accounting and analysis is featured in notable publications such as The Accounting Review; Journal of Accounting Research; Journal of Accounting and Economics; Contemporary Accounting Research; Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance; Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, among others. KEN W. SHAW is an associate professor of accounting and the KPMG/Joseph A. Silvoso Distinguished Professor of Accounting at the University of Missouri. He previously held a position at the University of Maryland in College Park. He has also taught in international programs at the University of Bergamo (Italy) and the University of Alicante (Spain). Ken holds an accounting degree from Bradley University and an MBA and PhD from the University of Wisconsin. He is a Certified Public Accountant with experience in public accounting.

Ken teaches accounting both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has been honored with numerous teaching awards from the School of Accountancy, College of Business, and the university. He was voted as the “Most Influential Professor” by four graduating classes of the School of Accountancy and has received the O’Brien Excellence in Teaching Award twice. He serves as the advisor to the school’s chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Ken is an enthusiastic member of the American Accounting Association and its subsections. He has been actively involved in several committees and has presented his research papers at national and regional conferences.
