About the Author
Wayne Thomas holds the prestigious W. K. Newton Chair in Accounting at the University of Oklahoma, where he imparts introductory financial accounting and intermediate accounting. He attained his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and his master’s and PhD in accounting from Oklahoma State University. Professor Thomas has been honored with teaching accolades at the university, college, and departmental levels, and has been bestowed with the Outstanding Educator Award from the Oklahoma Society of CPAs. Wayne is also a collaborator on McGraw-Hill’s top-selling Financial Accounting, alongside David Spiceland and Don Herrmann.
His primary scholarly interests lie in markets-based accounting research, financial disclosures, financial statement analysis, and international accounting matters. He previously served as an editor of The Accounting Review and has contributed articles to a variety of publications including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, and Contemporary Accounting Research. He has garnered several research accolades, including the American Accounting Association’s Competitive Manuscript Award. Professor Thomas indulges in various hobbies such as tennis, basketball, golf, and crossword puzzles, but most importantly, he relishes spending time with his spouse and children.
Michael Drake occupies the esteemed K. Fred Skousen Professorship of Accounting within the BYU Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University. Before joining BYU, he held a faculty position in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University and pursued doctoral studies in the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, where he was a Deloitte Foundation Doctoral Fellow. Prior to his advanced studies, he practiced public accounting at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young.

Jake Thornock holds the title of accounting professor within the BYU Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University and is the John and Nancy Hardy Chaired Professor.
