About the Author
Dr. Mauk currently serves as a Nursing Professor and the Director of the Graduate Nursing Program at the School of Nursing and Health Professions at Colorado Christian University. Before relocating to Colorado, she worked as a Nursing Professor at a significant private institution in Indiana for nearly 25 years, where she occupied the inaugural Kreft Endowed Chair for Advancement in Nursing Science, a role dedicated to gerontological nursing. She achieved a BSN from Valparaiso University, an MS in Adult Health from Purdue University, a PhD from Wayne State University, a Post-Master’s GNP certification from the University of Virginia, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) qualification from Valparaiso University. Dr. Mauk has accumulated over 38 years of expertise in chronic illness care, rehabilitation, and gerontological nursing. She is certified in rehabilitation, as well as a gerontological nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist. Dr. Mauk has authored or supervised the editing of eight publications, among them three recognized with an AJN Book of the Year Award. She has participated in editorial duties for Rehabilitation Nursing and Geriatric Nursing, and has penned numerous articles as well as more than 50 book chapters. She presently holds the position of Senior Editor at the Journal of Christian Nursing. Dr. Mauk acts as the co-founder and President of Senior Care Central/International Rehabilitation Consultants, providing educational, clinical, and legal nursing guidance in rehabilitation and senior care both nationally and globally. Dr. Mauk has also contributed to the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) in various capacities including: President, Board of Directors, Council of Leaders, RNJ Editor in Chief, and Editor of the fifth edition of the Core Curriculum. Dr. Mauk has imparted knowledge to nurses and students in China and the UAE, imparting her zeal for aiding other nations in molding rehabilitation nursing into a robust specialty to enhance the quality of care for their aging populations.
