Business Finance: Fundamental was created for the graduate (MBA) level as a concise, updated, and direct product, the majority of which could be adequately covered in a single semester or course. To achieve the aim of connecting with the diverse types of students and the various course environments, business finance is simplified to its essence, while maintaining a distinctly contemporary approach. Purely theoretical aspects are reduced, and extensive and intricate calculations are minimized to illustrate points that are either intuitively clear or of limited practical value. The objective was to focus on what students truly need to grasp from a concepts course. A compromise is reached by introducing and covering the essentials, while deferring more specialized topics to subsequent courses. Net present value is presented as the foundational and unifying principle in business finance. Each topic discussed is firmly grounded in valuation, and emphasis is placed throughout to clarify how specific decisions impact valuation. Furthermore, the significance of the financial manager as a decision-maker is highlighted, and the importance of managerial input and judgment is emphasized.
