Author Overview
Michael D. Lyman is a Professor of Criminal Justice at Columbia College, positioned in Columbia, Missouri. Aside from being an instructing faculty member, he functions as the program coordinator for the Master of Science of Criminal Justice Program and the originator of the college’s Forensic Science Program. Prior to entering the realm of academia, he served as a certified police instructor and additionally worked as a sworn criminal investigator for state police agencies in Kansas and Oklahoma. He has instructed literally thousands of law enforcement officers in the correct police techniques and strategies of expert investigative practices. Dr. Lyman has penned numerous textbooks in the realm of criminal justice covering areas such as investigative procedures, law enforcement, organized crime, drug enforcement, and drug trafficking. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wichita State University and his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri–Columbia. He has been summoned roughly 275 times by the law enforcement and legal communities to evaluate investigative proceedings and offer the results of his assessments and his insights in federal court proceedings nationwide.
