Mark Bray is Core Professor of Work Research and Chief of the Newcastle Enterprise School at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Before assuming this role in 1997, he held teaching positions at the universities of New South Wales, Wollongong, and Sydney. He has instructed both Australian labor relations and comparative labor relations for several years, while more recently he has also taught research methods and personnel management. His research interests span from micro examinations of labor relations and human resource management in sectors such as road and air transport, production, and healthcare to broader investigations of national public policy and contrasts between labor relations in Australia and other nations.

Peter Waring B. Com (Hons) PhD Newcastle is Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Work Studies Centre of the Faculty of Business and Law, University of Newcastle, Australia where he also earned his PhD. Before assuming the role of research fellow, Peter was a professor in labor relations and management at the Newcastle Business School. In addition to his labor relations teaching background, Peter also delivers lectures in the areas of personnel management and negotiation and representation. Before embarking on an academic career, Peter worked as a labor relations consultant and advocate for a leading Australian labor union. He has received numerous academic honors including an Australian postgraduate award in 1997 and the University of Newcastle’s management school award for the best journal article in 1999. Peter was also granted an Australian Research Council stipend in 2002 to examine management matters in corporate mergers and acquisitions. In April 2004, he was a visiting academic at the Management Centre of Kings College London. Peter has been published in a wide array of publications including Australian Bulletin of Labour, Personnel Review, Journal of Business Ethics, Asia Pacific Business Review, and Journal of Labor Relations. His current research pursuits involve analyzing connections between financial markets and labor relations practices within public services. Peters global instructional background encompasses teaching for the University of Newcastle in Malaysia and Hong Kong as well as for the University of Adelaide’s Business Graduate School in Singapore and Hong Kong. He has resided in Penang, Malaysia and Singapore.
