   George Ritzer is an accomplished College Professor at the University of Maryland, where he has also served as a Distinguished Scholar-Instructor and earned a Teaching Excellence Award. He received the Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award from the American Sociological Association, an honorary doctorate from LaTrobe University in Australia, and the Robin Williams Lectureship from the Eastern Sociological Society. His most famous publication, The McDonaldization of Society (8th ed.), has been studied by numerous students over two decades and translated into more than a dozen languages. Ritzer is also the curator of McDonaldization: The Reader, and the author of other works in critical sociology related to the McDonaldization concept, including Enchanting a Disenchanted World, The Globalization of Nothing, Expressing America: A Critique of the Global Credit Card Society, along with a series of popular social theory textbooks and Globalization: A Foundational Text. He is the Managing Editor of the Encyclopedia of Social Theory (2 vols.), the Encyclopedia of Sociology (11 vols.; 2nd edition coming soon), the Encyclopedia of Globalization (5 vols.), and serves as the Founding Editor of the Journal of Consumer Culture. In 2016, he will release the second edition of Key Concepts of Sociology with SAGE.
